Muslims foil terror plot: 'al Qaeda-backed plot' foiled thanks to Muslims?, Muslims foil a terror plot that involved a train running between Canada and New York City. On April 23, NBC News reported that it was a tip received from the Muslim community that launched a year-long investigation and eventually led authorities to two men believed to have been planning an attack. The two men have been arrested."There is going to be backlash but I want to reiterate. Who was the one who tipped the RCMP off? It was our community...reported..examiner.We have to be on the front lines to either nip it in the bud in the very beginning or co-operate with authorities so they can be brought to justice," said Muhammad Robert Heft, a Muslim community leader.Muslims helped foil a terror plot that could have left hundreds of people dead. This is important because many people are quick to blame people of this religion on attacks when in fact, most of them do not have ties to al-Qaeda, nor are they extremists. They are normal people who might have different religious beliefs but don't want to see innocent people die."In our community we may look a little different, but in our hearts we love Canada. We want safety for all Canadians regardless of their religion," Heft continued.After the Muslims helped foil the terror plot, Chiheb Esseghaier, of Montreal, and Raed Jaser, of Toronto were taken in to custody. Come to find out, they are not Canadian citizens and investigators believe that they had backing by al-Qaeda in Iran.
