The best day of the year for Star Wars fans – based on wordplay – is here again. That’s right, Wookiees: It’s May the Fourth.With a history that goes back some three decades, the day has now become a global movement to celebrate anything and everything related to George Lucas’ (and soon to be J.J. Abrams’) epic space saga. The play on words of “May the Fourth” (“may the Force”) dates back to at least 1979 when Margaret Thatcher’s political party took out an ad congratulating her becoming prime minster. The ad for Thatcher, whose Conservative Party won the election on the eponymous day, read “May the Fourth Be With You, Maggie.
